Krakow Pub Golf Course Crawl

group of men on the pub crawl

A pub crawl with an extra club difference, apart from finishing the crawl with a dance club entry add in the golf club rounds over a planned course throughout the crawl. The rules are simple and your drinks are tailored to the course difficulty. Usually, it is a 9 pub course with a set level par for each venue. Your guide is the caddy and controls the drinking and observes that the set par drink in each pub is honoured. Par as in golf terms determines the amount of strokes or ball hits to sink the ball in the hole in pub golf your stroke rate is determined by your drinks and drinking. A player can attempt to reduce strokes by going for a supplementary beverage. All par levels and venues are assigned and a Party Krakow scorecard is issued to each player before you visit the first pub. The player with the lowest stroke score wins a prize of some description chosen by the players before the crawl begins. There are also penalty strokes for infractions and rule breaking. Special note, you are also required to carry or wear an item used in golf to qualify for the Party Krakow Pub Golf Crawl

Golfing terms used:

  • Par – set drink to be consumed before leaving for next pub. 3 penalty strokes added if not totally consumed.
  • Birdie – When a player consumes an extra nominated drink + par, minus 1 stroke. If not completed then 1 penalty stroke added, this is called a Bogey.
  • Eagle – Player consumes 2 nominated drinks + par, minus 2 strokes. If not completed then 2 penalty strokes added, known as a Double Bogey.
  • Albatross – 3 nominated drinks + par, minus 3 strokes. If not completed then 3 penalty strokes added, a Triple Bogey.
  • Venues & Par – Each pub has a set par which ranges from 3 to 5 strokes according to the type of drink or drinks allotted to achieve it and recorded on the scorecard. When it is time to move on to another venue and a player has not finished the par drink then for every gulp or swig taken an extra penalty stroke is added to the scorecard. If the player is unable to finish the drink or leaves it then 3 penalty strokes are added.
  • The Caddy or Caddies – These are your Party Krakow Guides that accompany you on the crawl. Their decisions on infringements are final and must be respected. You have 2 caddies if the group is 13+ people and they adopt all of the Fair Play & Fun values, so any cheating witnessed by group members should be reported to them. The caddies will also remind you to update your scorecards before moving to the next venue.
  • Penalty Strokes – If you break or infringe the rules extra strokes are added to your scorecard as sanctioned by the PK Guides.
  • In The Water – During the 9-hole pub crawl every 3rd pub is designated an In The Water venue, which means anyone caught using the toilet facilities will incur a 2 stroke penalty being added to the scorecard.
  • In The Bunker – If a player spills, drops or picks up someone else’s drink or causes another player to spill or drop his drink then 1 nominated vodka shot is to be consumed to get out of the bunker plus 2 penalty strokes added to the scorecard.
  • In The Rough – If a players trips over, falls down or walks into a stationary object (door, lamppost etc) or collides with a non-group member a 2 penalty stroke is added, this can also be combined with an In The Water infringement should drinks be involved, thus making it a total of 4 penalty strokes.
  • In The Bucket – Players may become overambitious and consume too much too soon and lapse into projectile vomiting, this is a straight 10 penalty points on the card. Pace and guile is required rather than quantity to win.
  • In The Fairway – Any players seen displaying ungentlemanly conduct not covered by the above penalties receives an immediate 5 penalty strokes added to his scorecard.

Pub Golf Course Crawl is for fun and the best way to outwit other players is to keep an eye on their scorecards to pinch or steal strokes by targeted drinking and observing the functional state of your opponents throughout the evening.

Reward Strokes - During the crawl the Best Man or organiser has the honour of declaring a hole in one, it is his choice when to call it and he can only call this once. The Stag can shout FORE, again only once during the pub crawl.

In The Hole – Best Man or organiser declares a hole in one and champagne is ordered and all players receive a minus 2 strokes as a reward when the champagne is downed.

In The Fore Shot – The Stag shouts fore, the well known golfer warning of a ball flying towards people in the area, a vodka shot is ordered for everyone plus all players receive a minus 2 strokes as a reward when vodka shot is consumed.

The PK Guides will tally your scores after the par drink is done at the 9th pub unless someone needs to attempt some last minute stroke play to win. You can only visit the bathroom after the PK Guides have announced the Party Krakow Pub Golf Course Crawl Winner in the 9th pub as the In The Water penalty is still in effect.

Don’t forget to take an item related to golf, and enjoy the amazing wonderland of pubs in buzzing Krakow. Fore! Don’t mind if you do.
