UAZ
UAZ (Ulyanovsky Avtomobilny Zavod) is a vehicle manufacturer based in Ulyanovsk, Russia and is most famous for producing the UAZ-469 utility vehicle, which was widely used as a military vehicle in the Eastern bloc. The UAZ-469 and its modifications have become popular because of their off-road ability, reliability and simplicity. Off-road enthusiasts see it as a lower-cost and better alternative to the American Jeep, British Land Rover and Japanese Land Cruiser. One of the main reasons for the UAZ-469’s popularity is its deliberately simple design which allows for easy repairs, particularly useful in the old Soviet Union where most people preferred to fix their own cars.
